Senate MembersMs Janice Bowra![]() Ms Janice Bowra Janice was born in Adelaide and grew up in Western Australia. She attended Attadale Primary School, Applecross Senior High School, Murdoch University and Curtin University. Janice has been associated with Murdoch since 1980. In 1991, as a part-time, mature-aged, external student, Janice graduated from Murdoch with a BSc (General Studies with an emphasis on environmental science). As an internal student Janice gained an MBA in 2000. She also won the CCI academic prize for human resource management. In 2006 Janice gained a Master of Public Health from Curtin University. Her research interests include women’s experiences in the workplace especially at peri menopause, and wellness at work. Janice was elected to the Senate as alumni representative in November 2002 and then again in 2008. She currently sits on the Audit and Risk Management Committee and the Legislation Committee. Janice's work history includes several years as objects conservator at the Maritime Museum working with and researching the conservation of maritime archaeological materials from shipwrecks; five years as a consultant occupational hygienist with particular interest in airborne fibres such as asbestos; health, safety and environment co-ordinator with Telstra; and Registrars' Associate at the Supreme Court. Currently she is working for the WA Health Department in the Office of Safety and Quality in Healthcare. Janice's interests include music, recreational flying and working in public health. She has professional membership to the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists, and is a member of the Australian Federation of Business and Professional Women. She is the current state policy officer for BPW (WA). |
