Associate Professor Lance Fung

Associate Prof Lance Fung

Lance joined Murdoch University in 2003 as a full-time academic staff. Currently, he is the Associate School Dean of Research and the Postgraduate Director of Research for the Faculty of Creative Technologies and Media. Lance has over 30 years of academic experience and involvement with tertiary institutions, professional bodies and industries locally and internationally.

He received his PhD degree from the University of Western Australia, a Master degree of Engineering and a Bachelor degree of Maritime Technology with First Class Honours from the University of Wales, Institute of Science and Technology. He also has a Graduate Diploma in Business from Curtin University of Technology. Prior to Murdoch, Lance has worked at Curtin University, Singapore Polytechnic, the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. and Marconi Company at Hong Kong.

Lance has served many roles in the Executive Committee of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) WA Section and various technical societies. Lance was a member of the IEEE Asia-Pacific Region Executive Committee in 2007-2008, serving over fifty-six thousands IEEE members. He was a recipient of the IEEE Third Millennium Award in 2000 and the 2007 Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research Supervision.
