Ms Maxine Murray

Maxine Murray was the Western Australian Commissioner for Public Sector Standards from 2002 to 2007. In that role she was responsible for the selection of Chief Executive Officers for the West Australian public sector.  This was a Parliamentary watchdog role whose other responsibilities included reporting to Parliament on compliance with standards of integrity, merit, equity and probity in the public sector and on the application of whistleblower protection legislation to the public sector, universities and local government.  She was also responsible for advising agencies on ethical and governance issues.

Prior to 2002 Ms Murray held the statutory position of Director of Equal Opportunity in Public Employment for Western Australia for eight years.  She has held senior management positions in a range of government agencies, including the Office of Women’s Interests, The Equal Opportunity Commission, the Department of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare and the Department of State Services. 

She is a fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia and was previously a Director of Leadership WA.
